Start Here is an initiative proudly launched by Omnius, one of Europe’s leading B2B marketing agencies focused on SaaS & Fintech industries, as our way to give back to startups & the ecosystem in general, in the area we felt undersupplied: Business resources.

Simply, our hypothesis is that resources weren’t well curated in one place, are often unreliable or outdated, and for the most part – they’re simply prioritizing promotion over applicable value.

Through the last 10 years, we have witnessed a lot of startups being formed, some of them growing very fast, others failing for a number of reasons.

When thinking of common problems startups have on their journey, we isolated three main areas we’d like to positively influence through these resources, with a presumption it will result in a higher number of successful startup companies that will grow more healthy.

Three main areas we thought of:

1. Funding

Around 1% to 2% of startups that seek venture capital funding actually secure it at the seed stage, and less than 0.5% of all startups receive venture capital funding at any stage.

There are many reasons for this, but one that we’re trying to solve with the Start Here initiative is the ability for startups to find complementary venture funds, right investment partners that understand their industry, are investing in their target countries, and at their company stage – for free.

2. Building networks

Or as we don’t like to call it: “Networking”. Both our experience and studies suggested that meeting people from the industry is fruitful for startup founders. Although the knowledge you acquire on startup events might not be strategically valuable in some cases, people you meet there can very likely be.

One of the problems with events is that founders don’t really know where it makes sense to go, so they don’t. Within the Start Here initiative, we carefully curated the most important events that are beneficial for startups in one place.

3. Practical education

Last, but the most important. We felt there’s not enough concrete, practice-based knowledge on how to build a startup the right way. Or at least, it’s not centralized enough so people can get the value out of it on a stable level through time. So, we centralized it in 3 subcategories:

3.1. Case studies –

Featuring stories of how great startups such as Airbnb, Figma, or Notion grew to market behemoths.

3.2. Reports & Publications –

Whitepapers with data that’s genuinely useful in understanding where the market is going, and how to adjust to changes. Think of industry reports, pricing benchmarks, or startup listings.

3.3. Interviews & Lectures –

Highly curated database of Interviews & Lectures with people such as Jensen Huang, Naval Ravikant, or Sam Altman that you might get 2c from.

Free & openly crowdsourced

Start Here is our way to give back. It’s free & will be forever – we believe in data openness and that business knowledge should be democratized.

Start Here is crowdsourced, meaning that data you’ll find on it isn’t a one-way street. You can also add resources you feel startups can benefit from. If valuable and not promotional, it will get listed.
